Help Save Handmade Toys in the USA from the CPSIA

How truly sad that my little hand stitched finger puppets will be ILLEGAL to sell come February 10th. It is not because they are unsafe, but because I am not able to afford the costs of the expensive 3rd party testing required by the new CPSIA law.

This affects not only children's toys, but ALL items made for children under age 12! If you crochet baby booties to sell on Etsy - you are affected! If you make hand bound journals for pre-teens, you are affected!

  2. Oh no! Do you think the Etsy organizers are aware of this? As large as they are, perhaps they can exert at least a tiny bit of influence, or make their voice heard on behalf of all their sellers.

By the way, I followed your link that said "vote" but only saw the information and a place to leave comments. Is there an actual place to vote or sign an online petition? (Sorry if I missed it.)

  3. Etsy is aware of this and sent a mass email out to sellers to alert them about this new law. There are many conversations taking place in the Community Forums at Etsy.

You can vote by clicking the "Vote Now" button on the little "widget" in the top right column of my blog.

  4. Thank you for helping to spread the word.

  5. I love your art, and also love that you are an advocate in the art/craftsperson community!

I have nominated you for a blog award - you can check out the details if you stop by my blog. :)
