June WIPocalypse Update

BeeHive Sampler Progress
It's time for another WIPocaylpse update.  The last update I posted was back in February.  I do have quite a few project updates, starting with "Beehive Sampler".

Beehive Sampler
I completed the bee band and started working on the Bargello band (shown at the top of the post).  I have about 80% of the sampler finished.

I also made progress on "Afternoon Nap", filling in areas of the cat and stitching the green area around the ear.

Afternoon Nap

I started stitching the sunflower on my "Summer Sampler".

Summer Sampler
I worked a bit more on a border area and alphabet on my "Castle Sampler".
Castle Sampler
I stitched quite a bit on my "To Everything a Season" sampler, working on the greenery and basket.  I am nearing a finish on this one!

To Everything a Season Sampler
I stitched more of the sky and tree blossoms on "Napping Kitten".
Napping Kitten
I managed a few more inches of the border on my "Linen Sampler".

Linen Sampler
I stitched on my Bothy Threads Cut Thru' Pirate Ship.

And made more progress on my Cut Thru' Haunted House.

And finally ... I completed another embroidered flower cluster on my "Rose Lap Quilt".

That's all of the update photos I have ... I think I have a few other projects that I need to photograph and update, but that will wait until next time.

The topic of the month is:
Half-year recap:  How are you doing with your goals so far this year?

I set some pretty easy goals this year, as I am working 2 jobs and am usually too tired to stitch.  My goals for the year are to work on each of my WIPs, and try to get a few projects finished.  Out of 41 WIPs, I have worked on only 10!  I am trying to step up my stitching ... so I hope to actually achieve my goals this year.  I have made a lot of progress on a few of those projects and am nearing finishes ... so time will tell.

Happy Stitching!

All Purpose Mid-Month Update

BeeHive Sampler
Hello World.  I started out the month by working on a different WIP each day.  I was able to keep it up for a week or so before life got in the way.  I have been having a tough time the past couple of years, and then things just got so much worse.  A lot of anxiety, fear and sadness in 2020.  The worst was losing my Dad last Saturday.  So bear with me ... I am kind of a mess right now.  Just trying to keep busy to get through the day.

I am merging in my "Gifted Gorgeousness" update, as several of these projects were gifted to me over the years.  The "Gifted Gorgeousness" stitch-along is hosted by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching, and features projects that in some way have been gifted -or- are being stitched to be given as gifts.

I worked on many different projects since my last update.  "BeeHive Sampler" shown above finally has a beehive.  This is a Sandy Orton design from years gone by.  Here is where I left off last time:
I still have back stitching to do in the central motif, and some more bands of stitching at the bottom of the sampler.  LOVE this one!

Next  "Winter Sampler": (gifted to me)

I am working on the area around the snowman.  This sampler is working up very slowly.  Lots of color changes and small areas with back stitching.  But I did spend a few hours on it.

Also "Autumn Sampler": (gifted to me)

I am working on the grapevine to the right of the apple girl.  Again, slow progress with lots of color changes and small areas with back stitching.

I also stitched on my "To Everything a Season" sampler (gifted to me).  Another one of Sandy Orton's designs.

"Linen Sampler" got a completed alphabet:

Here is where this one was left previously:

"Victorian Charm" got some attention:

Other projects I stitched on include: "Afternoon Nap", "Ride to Dreamland", and "Women of the Mayflower".  Not really enough progress to show on these.   But I think I had a great start to the month - working on 9 projects!   I hope to continue making progress on my projects, and maybe have a finish before too long.

Stitch Maynia and Gifted Gorgeousness Update

This is a pretty big update for me (16 projects).  I am participating in "Stitch Maynia" by stitching on a different one of my WIPs each day.  I am also including my "Gifted Gorgeousness" stitch along update as well - since most of these projects were gifted to me..

"Gifted Gorgeousness" is hosted by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching, and features projects that in some way have been gifted -or- are being stitched to be given as gifts.

I have stitched on 14 of my WIPs so far.  Shown above is "Afternoon Nap", on which I managed a bit of progress on the paw on May 1st.

On May 2nd, I stitched on "Berry Patch Rooster".  I worked on the greenery in the top left corner.
On May 3rd, I brought out my "BeeHive Sampler" and worked on the flowers and beehive at the top of the sampler.
May 4th was "Summer Sampler" day.  I finished the stitching and back stitch on the word "Camp", as well as most of the off-white stitching in that area. "Summer Sampler" was received as a gifted kit along with the other 3 seasons one year at Christmas.

May 5th was the day to stitch on my "Winter Sampler".  I only managed to stitch a bit of the shading on the snowman.  "Winter Sampler" was received as a gifted kit along with the other 3 seasons one year at Christmas.

I stitched on my "Castle Sampler" on May 6th - however I do not have a photo as it is too big to fit on my scanner & my camera batteries are kaput.  I managed to work a bit on the border.
On May 7th,  I brought out my "To Everything a Season" sampler.  I finished stitching the alphabet and worked on a bit more of the floral area.

May 8th was the day I worked on my "Butterfly Forest".  I only managed to stitch a few colors on the wings of one butterfly.  "Butterfly Forest" was received as a gifted kit on my birthday several tears ago.
"Napping Kitten" was my project for May 9th.  I finished his ear and added some stitches to the branch.
I finished another row of the alphabet on my "Linen Sampler" on May 10th.
On May 11th, I did some back stitching on my "Spring Sampler".  "Spring Sampler" was received as a gifted kit along with the other 3 seasons one year at Christmas.

On May 12th, I finished all of the gold stitching on my "Carousel Tiger".  I will add a photo when I have this project completed (hopefully soon).  "Carousel Tiger" was received as a gifted kit back in the 90's from my sister.
May 13th was the day I stitched on my "Autumn Sampler" - I only managed a bit of stitching on what will become a yellow ruler, next to the lovely schoolhouse motif.  "Autumn Sampler" was received as a gifted kit along with the other 3 seasons one year at Christmas.
Last night (May 14th), I stitched a bit on the border, cat ears and moon on my "Halloween Pumpkin" project.  I received the chart for this project in a Just Cross Stitch magazine gifetd by my sweetie.
During this month, I also managed to finish the tower on my "Bothy Threads Cut Thru' Haunted House".  This kit was another gift from my sweetie this year on Valentine's Day.
And finally ... I worked on my "Linen & Threads 2019 Mystery Sampler" (gifted as a free stitch-along).  I had a visit from a big 'ol frog, but I managed to get this month's update about 1/2 way finished.  So I am right on schedule.

Whew!  That was a crazy update for me.  I still have to get through the last half of the month!

Happy Stitching!

my March WIPocalypse Update

BeeHive Sampler - In Progress
Time for another WIPocalypse update ... featuring projects that I currently have in progress that I hope to finish before the world ends.  I have all of my WIPs posted here.

Shown above is my progress on "BeeHive Sampler" designed by Sandy Orton.  This project is stitched on 28 ct evenweave and features cross stitch (over 2 and over 1), back stitch, straight stitch, french knots, satin stitch and bargello.

I am moving along on this one ... but I still have a ways to go.  It is a joy to stitch.

BeeHive Sampler by Sandy Orton
I also stitched a bit more on my newest project, "Mini Banner - Fall" by Debbie Mumm.  This one seems to be stitching up rather quickly.

Here is where I left off:
And here is what the finish will look like:
Those are the only projects that I had time to work on for this update ... as always, I wish I had more time for stitching, but am grateful for the time I do have.

The flowers are blooming all around Atlanta!

my July WIPocalypse Update + a small finish

"Beehive Sampler" by Sandy Orton
It's time for another WIPocalypse update!   These are projects that I have been working on and hope to finish before the world ends.  I had some good stitching time this month (for  a change), and I worked on several of my WIPs.

"Beehive Sampler" by Sandy Orton (shown above).  I am moving along a bit on this project.  I finished stitching the left hand side pansy border, filled in a few spots in the center (still some back stitching to do there), and started work on the oranges and blossoms around the top beehive.  Plenty more to stitch and some fun specialty stitches coming up.  I can't wait!

"Halloween Pumpkin" from the Just CrossStitch 2012 Halloween Issue.  Well, the pumpkin is finished! and I did some work on the bat border and the witches hat.  I still have a way to go as I have barely started stitching the cat.

Here is where I left off last time:
Quaker 2 - (freebie) by Claire aka: Gazette94

I started this project back in 2015 as part of Debbie's Crazy January Challenge & hadn't touched it since.  I am using random bits of floss leftover from other projects in shades of pinks and greens.  I am making good progress & going to try to finish this one before the end of summer.

Here is my small finish of the month.  It is "Precious Puppy" from the book "100 Cross-Stitch Christmas Ornaments" by Carol Siegel.  I plan to finish this into an ornament.

Question of the Month – What are your oldest and your newest WIPs?

I have several projects started in the 90's, which ended up in storage after a move.  They sat in storage for about 15-20 years before I located them and pulled them out.

I think my oldest WIP is "Her Majesty's Carousel" a Dimensions kit 16" x 18" with a gold lazy daisy stitched border and gold beading.  I am actually very close to finishing this ... I just never seem to pick it up.  I haven't touched it in at least 5 years.  (shame! shame! shame!)

My newest WIP is "Victorian Charm" by Dimensions.  I started this project last week!  (shame! shame! shame!)  lol!  My sweetie and I both came down with the flu last week and each picked an item off our Amazon wishlists as a treat to look forward to.  "Victorian Charm" had been on my wishlist for a few years ... and so I have a new WIP.

I think I've about covered my stitching for the month.  I can't wait to see what everyone else has been up to!

Happy Stitching!

my June WIPocalypse Update

Time for another WIPocalypse update!    I had no finishes this month, but I did stitch on a few of my WIPs.

Shown above is "BeeHive Sampler" by Sandy Orton.  I worked quite a bit on this one, filling in some gaps in the center image and the Pansy bands, as well as getting a start on the beehive.

Here is where I left off, previously:

I worked a bit on "Simple Blessings", also by Sandy Orton:

And I stitched on "Gathering Honey" - finishing the hedges around the flower beds and starting on the center beehive.

This month's topic:
Do you find yourself more productive with stitching in summer or winter?
That is a difficult question ... I think I probably stitch more in the spring/summer, as fall/winter is a busy time for me with work.

That's all for this update.  Don't forget to check in and see what everyone has accomplished this month.

Happy Stitching!
